Just The Facts!

Keeping Focused During a Poker Game

One of the most widespread reasons for losing in Poker, and yet often overlooked, is that of a player simply losing focus. Whether it is land based or online, losing focus during the game is a real problem, and something that you should address in your Poker strategy.

While a lot of players are focused early on, this level of concentration usually slips off after a while. Whether you are in a real or virtual casino, the reason can be numerous. It can be simple fatigue. Playing a lot of Poker hands can be draining, and the pressure of losing, or trying to keep on winning, can take its toll.

When you are playing online Poker there are a lot of other possible distractions as well. A player could be playing in several tables. He could be chatting with his friends, or have several browser windows open and going over other sites. This will certainly cost him the game, because in order to win, your Poker strategy should be to remain focused.

Fortunately, there are ways that you can avoid this. First off, you should play in only one table. Playing in several means you run the risk of confusing your strategies, and losing double the money. Second, you should avoid excessive chatting; be it in a real or online table. The reason is that not only will you end up being distracted, you will also be giving away tells because the moment you get a big hand, you will quiet down.

That is something that your opponents will not fail to see, even in an online competition, so you should keep chatter to a bare minimum.

If you are in a land based card room, do not let your mind drift when you are done playing a hand. Take the time to observe what they are doing, and you will be able to learn a lot and include this in your Poker strategy.

Other things that will cause distractions during a Poker game are mulling over lost hands or gloating over your win in the previous game. Focus on what is happening now. Also, do not get yourself drunk or subject yourself to excessive eating. This will harm your game.

Avoiding distractions in a Poker game is something that anyone can accomplish provided they have the mindset and determination to do so. If you are serious about winning in Poker, then these are things that you should work on.
