Greg Raymer is a native of Minot, North Dakota and he was born in 1964. Known as "The Fossilman", he is one interesting and talented poker pro in the circuit. He got the nickname "Fossilman" because he likes collecting fossils.

Greg Raymer attended high school in St. Louis, Missouri. He took up and completed a degree in Chemistry at the University of Missouri. He also completed and graduated with a degree in Law at the University of Minnesota Law School. In 1992, he went to practice as a Patent Attorney which lasted for ten years.

He got a job at a pharmaceutical corporation in Stonington, Connecticut which is quite near to Foxwoods Resort and Casino. It was to Greg's advantage since he had been enjoying playing cards in local card games.

Greg's interest in playing poker led him to reading poker tutorials and look into online poker as well. His never-ending quest for learning and developing his poker skills is greatly attributed to his analytical aptitude. Greg's patience and thirst for learning has made him the poker pro that he is today.

Playing at Foxwoods Casino had given Greg the opportunity to learn and improve his skills. He had garnered victories at the casino's tournament events and he realized that he could compete on a much higher scale. He didn't waste any time and participated at the 2000 World Poker Finals. He won 3rd place and a take-home prize of $ 49,000.

Greg played online poker for a few years and enjoyed the Heads-up and Short-handed plays. In spring of 2004, he won at Pokerstars.com's $ 160 buy-in Satellite Shootout which earned him an entry fee to the World Series Of Poker.

It was later in 2004 that Greg Raymer made history in the pro porker circuit. He won at the biggest Poker tourney in Las Vegas, which was held at Binion's Horseshoe. There were 2,575 participants and Greg got up to the top as the ultimate champion with a whopping $ 5 million.

Greg Raymer participated again at the 2005 World Series Of Poker and finished 25th place with a substantial $ 304,680 prize. In 2005 alone, his tournament earning was over $ 5.6 million. Come 2006, he won 2nd place at the $ 1 million guaranteed tournament of PokerStars, which earned him almost $ 200,000.

Having won millions in poker tournaments and the prestige of popularity doesn't faze the kind-hearted and down-to-earth attitude of Greg Raymer. He appreciates his fans' support and he's even more than willing to share an advice or two on playing poker. He is also generous and supports charities as well.

Greg Raymer and his family reside in Connecticut, but he still travels around the country to compete. Greg is a genuine success; from the card rooms of Foxwoods, to the final tables of the World Series Of Poker, and to the prizes that gave him and his family a comfortable life. He is a perfect example of a true champion.
